Building Private Cloud with Open Infrastructure

Core business functions both in the front office and back office are moving from enterprise data centers to Cloud. That’s because cloud is offering equal or better reliability and security at a lower cost. Not every large transaction processing or decision support application is suitable for Cloud today, but as the quality and cost advantages of clouds grow, more and more applications will move. That frees up IT organizations to work on innovative business applications and instead of running data centers, you’ll be running innovation centers.

Attend this session to hear about:

• Benefits of building Private Cloud with Open Infrastructure

• Oracle offerings to Build Private Cloud

• Oracle OpenStack: Unique Features

• Oracle Products on OpenStack

Microservices + DevOps + Oracle Cloud = A Bright Future

One of the major selling points of cloud is agility. Cloud on it’s own doesn’t make organizations agile. If organizations embrace cloud technology without changing traditional IT practices or processes the return on investment and iterative improvement is minimal. This session covers how Oracle Cloud helps organizations drive innovation and business transformation by increasing business agility, lowering costs, and reducing IT complexity by implementing Microservices and DevOps, followed by a live demonstration session showcasing the various services available as part of Oracle Developer Cloud Services.

DBaaS: Taking Advantage of Oracle Cloud Databases

Oracle has been the database leader for decades. Oracle extends that leadership to an industry-leading Database as a Service (DBaaS) Cloud Service. With Oracle’s DBaaS organizations can eliminate the need to identify, purchase, and provision new systems to accommodate changing and expanding database needs. Instead, we simply provision a database in the cloud, choosing from among many options to install a database instance of the size and type required in minutes (rather than weeks). Whether creating a production instance or building a test database the Oracle DBaaS makes things easy. In this session you’ll learn the capabilities of Oracle DBaaS, see a live demonstrations of the ease of deploying and using a new service. You will also learn which database versions are supported, what the different “software edition” choices provide, what different “shapes” include, and other configuration options.

RAC server Pools: What’s new in Oracle 12c?

Oracle Clusterware 11g R2 introduced server pools as a means for specifying resource placement and administering server allocation and access. However, originally, all servers were considered to be equal in relation to their processors, physical memory, and other characteristics. This can lead to sub-optimal performance of some applications.

Oracle Clusterware 12c enhances the use of server pools by introducing server attributes e.g. memory, CPU_count etc. which can be associated with each server. Server pools can be configured so that their members belong to a category of servers, which share a particular set of attributes. Moreover, the administrators can maintain a library of policies and switch between them as required rather than manually reallocating servers to various server pools based on workload. This paper discusses in detail the new features of Server Pools in 12c.
